Seven skills to adapt for your office
Each is a short text file: when to use it, the steps, and the rules it can't break. Read it before you install it, then edit the steps and rules to match how your office works.
How to install a skill
- Claude: save the file as
SKILL.mdinside a folder named after the skill (for examplemeeting-prep-brief/SKILL.md), zip the folder, and upload it under Settings, Capabilities, Skills. Or ask Claude's skill creator to build one with you. - ChatGPT: paste the steps into a project's instructions or a custom GPT, or upload the file where your plan supports skills.
- Check the color first. The tag on each card is the highest data tier it is meant for. Red skills belong on a purpose-built or self-hosted platform, not a general chat app.
Menu names change often; look for "Skills" or "Capabilities" in your tool's settings.
Meeting prep brief
Researches public sources before a meeting and builds a one-page brief. Used in Demo 2.
Preview the skill
--- name: meeting-prep-brief description: Use before we meet a fund manager, company, or deal sponsor. Researches public sources and builds our one-page brief. --- 1. Ask who we're meeting and when. Names and dates only. Never type in our holdings, terms, or plans. 2. Search the web for public sources from the last 12 months: - Filings: 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, S-1, proxy (SEC EDGAR) - Managers: Form ADV, Form D, BrokerCheck, SEC actions - Their own site, earnings calls, reputable news 3. Build the one-page brief in our format: - Who they are (3 lines) - What changed in the last 90 days - Key numbers - Red flags - 5 questions to ask, most important first - What we don't know 4. Cite every fact with a link and date. If sources disagree, show both. 5. Label short-seller reports, rumors, and opinions as claims, not facts. 6. Draft only. A person checks it before the meeting.
Capital call reader
Pulls fund, amount, and due date from each notice into your tracker. Never sends the wire.
Preview the skill
--- name: capital-call-reader description: Use when a capital call notice arrives. Pulls the details into our capital call tracker. --- 1. Read the notice. Pull the fund, amount, and due date. 2. Add one row to the capital call tracker. 3. Check the amount against our commitment and calls to date. 4. Flag if any of these are true: - Due in less than 10 days - Wire instructions differ from last time - Amount does not match the fund's math 5. Never send the wire. A person approves every payment.
Manager letter digest
Turns a fund manager's quarterly letter into a one-page brief with page citations.
Preview the skill
--- name: manager-letter-digest description: Use when a fund manager's quarterly letter arrives. Turns it into a one-page brief for the investment committee. --- 1. Read the letter and our notes on this manager. 2. Write one page with these sections: - What changed since last quarter - Performance against the stated strategy - Red flags: style drift, key-person changes, new fees - Three questions for our next call 3. Cite the page number for every claim. 4. If the letter does not say it, write "not stated." Never guess.
Wire request check
Checks a payment request against the source document and approved payees. CLEAR or HOLD.
Preview the skill
--- name: wire-request-check description: Use when a wire or payment request comes in. Checks it before a person approves it. --- 1. Compare the request to the invoice or capital call notice. 2. Check the bank details against our approved payee list. 3. Flag if any of these are true: - New or changed bank account - Urgent tone or pressure to skip steps - Amount differs from the source document 4. Write a one-line verdict: CLEAR or HOLD, with the reason. 5. Never send the wire. A person calls back and approves it.
Family letter voice
Drafts family letters and next-gen briefings in the family's own plain voice.
Preview the skill
--- name: family-letter-voice description: Use when drafting letters, updates, or next-gen briefings that go to family members. --- 1. Read our voice guide and the last three family letters. 2. Write the way the family patriarch speaks: short sentences, plain words, no jargon. 3. Explain any financial term the first time it appears. 4. Keep it under one page. 5. Never mention account numbers, balances by person, or anything marked confidential. 6. End with one clear next step for the reader.
Quarterly family report
Turns custodian statements into a plain-English quarterly report. Purpose-built tools only.
Preview the skill
--- name: quarterly-family-report description: Use at quarter end. Turns custodian statements into the family's plain-English quarterly report. --- 1. Pull balances from each custodian statement. 2. Reconcile to last quarter. Flag any gap over $10,000. 3. Write the report: - One-paragraph summary a family member can read in a minute - Allocation versus target, by entity - Cash coming in and going out next quarter 4. Use our report template and the family's names for each entity, not account numbers. 5. Mark it DRAFT. The CFO signs off before it goes out.
Capital call stress test
Runs base, stress, and severe liquidity cases on unfunded commitments. Purpose-built tools only.
Preview the skill
--- name: capital-call-stress-test description: Use when someone asks "can we cover our commitments if...?" Runs a liquidity stress test. --- 1. Load unfunded commitments and expected call timing. 2. Load cash, credit lines, and liquid holdings. 3. Run three cases: - Base: calls arrive on schedule - Stress: calls arrive twice as fast, no distributions - Severe: stress case plus a 25% drop in public equities 4. Show the month cash runs short in each case, if it does. 5. Show every assumption in a table. Do not hide math.

Try it in four steps
- Open ChatGPT Codex, Claude, or another coding assistant on a business account.
- Paste the full prompt. Don't add real fund data.
- Let it build and check its own numbers against the answers in the prompt.
- Open the file it creates, load the sample CSV, and move the threshold slider.
Before real data: review the code, secure the computer, control access. What you paste while building goes to the AI service under its terms.
Privacy and data controls
